Hello guys,
the last two weeks have been good when it comes to fishing and mixed when we talk about weather. The number of bigger fish is increasing as larger shoals of herring come into the fjord and even mackerel have been caught.
We even gave it a go for pike in the lakes around Steinskjer. As we waded into the water we noticed that the water is still very cold. As I expected the pike totally ignored our wobblers and spinners. As the winter has been about a month longer than ususal, the pike still did not come into shallower water. I guess with a boat we would have had a different result. Anyway, one of our guests from Russia kept beeing patient and was rewarded with this beautiful brown trout. Well done!

I had a lot of fun fishing for cod in Straumen with Pavol, one of our guests. This half day evening trip was quite successful for the cod. We mainly caught the fish on shads, which we slowly retrieved through the water column. Greetings Pavol, hope you are alright!

Thanks for looking and look out for some wolffish and lump.....!
Cheers, Kevin

Hello guys,
last week me and a group of Scottish fishermen had great fishing for the pollocks. We used 6´ sidewinders mostly in red and yellow colours, which we retrieved slowly through the water column. We caught nice fish up to 11 pound from the boat. Here is the nice 11 pound fish.
I also had a go and got this strong 10 pounder.

The abundance of pollock is really good at the moment with an average size of about 6 pounds. Searching along the rock edges you will always find some good fish in about 10-30 meters depth. Shads and spinners are the best lures at the moment!

Hello everyone,
Tom and Kevin went to fish the Verrasundet, because they haven´t fished there for a while. They wanted to catch cod and colefish with winding up shads slowly. They used 12 cm shads with a 80 gramm led-head in dark colors. The rods were their usaual Sportex with 65 gramm of casting weight, attached to a Twin power 4000. After several cod and colefish in the mid-water, this monster hammered into the shad. He took line like a colefish but with his heavy headshakes Tom noticed sraight away that it must be a big one.

After this fight he deserved to swim again

Hello everyone,
One of our guests from the netherlands had a preaty rare catch. He caught a Round nose grenadier fish. He is the first person ever in our camp, who caught it on a rod. Usually you just see them floating dead on the surface after their spawning season, because they die after they laid their eggs.
here is the happy catcher.....

Hi everyone,
Kevin and Tom went deepsea-fishing on monday evening. They tried to fish marks over 200 meters of depth. They found a spot with a slightely edge from 240 to 195 meters. To get down there, they used 30 pound rods and a TLD 30 two speed with 800 gramm of led. The one meter long leader was conected to two hooks with the size of 6/0 and 8/0. As bait they used coalfish fillets attached to a stripe of bluey for the flavour. They fished the mark for three hours, with some nice results in the end.

Tom with a 15 pound lump

Tom with a 6 pound long-nose skate

Hello
Last night I started shore fishing again after having 2 weeks fishing from the boats I was intrested in what I could catch from pier on bait!!! In specific ragworms!! I used theses because I was particualy intrested in fishing for the flatfish!! I think it was the second cast, which I did this night when I had this typical flatfish bite. When I hooked it I knew it was I quite nice fish, but when I saw it I was much more impressed as a nice 2.5 pound Plaice came to the surface!!

Im sure I would have had more Plaice but the darkeness came in and codling came on to feed! Kevin cam down to join me for the last hour and had 5 Pollock around 2 kilo!

Good news!
The amounts of fish we and the customers caught is quite incredible! People, who fished the area of Straumen during out going water were simply surprised. Cod with an average size of 2-3 kg, coalfish hunting on the surface and a lot of haddock. Tides were perfect so there was fish everywhere!
On one night Kevin and Tom had about 100 fish in 4 hours fishing. With nearly every cast they had a strike. No matter, what bait they used, fish were willing to take it. The cod on the foto below were the average.

Kevin got a gurnard on jig in midwater! There is always something happening, which you do not expect.

One of our guests, Frida from Belgium, had a great day of guiding with one of the lads. Plenty of cod and lots of small coalfish, hammering the bait on the surface. The last time she was out fishing was twenty years ago! She was acting like a professional.

Hello everyone,
Yesterday evening Kevin and Tom tried to fish for cod. Their plan was to fish close to shore in shallow waters. They used their Sportex spinning rods again with a casting weight of 65 gr. and a spinning reel size 4000. They did long drifts close to the coastline and were casting their shads towards the shore to let it sink down to the bottom. The cod was hunting in the depth between 10 to 25 meters and slow movements with dark colors were working best. In the end they had around 30 cod in 3 hours and several fish over 5 pound. Tom even got one biggy around 13 pound which was fighting like hell.

Many anglers expect the big fish in deep water, but at the moment fishing in the shallow areas is much more effective. These fish are mainly feeding on crusteans, so a jig immitates a crab much better than a pirk does. I guess many fish simply do not react for a pirk at the moment. Try it!

Yesterday evening we headed out to discover a new mark on Itterøya. Pollock was the aim of the trip, which we tried to find on steep edges close to the rocks. We fished with light spinning rods and dark 4 inch shads on 30 gramm heads, casting them towards the rocky edges. First we only had fish up to 4 pound and a couple of cod before this lunker of a specimem of 14 pound took the shad. It was a nice fight by using a Sportex rod with 70 gramm casting weight and a Technium 4000 FB loaded with 0,12 Fireline and a 0,40 mm leader attached to it. Once more the pollock showed that they are an exceptional fighter on light equipment.

While fishing for pollock Kevin saw something hunting on the surface. A Spøket in 18 gramm fished close to the surface produced this 52 cm sea trout for Kevin. A wonderful, wild silver fish! The chances for sea trout are really good at the moment. Guests have caught fish up to 3.5 kg!

Thanks for looking and don`t forget your sea trout equipment!
Bye for now
